Centaur Housing are proud to sponsorGiles Bowman who is raising money to help fund Leeds Deaf Football Club. Giles Bowman is planning to Kayak from Coast to Coast along canals from Liverpool to Goole. Giles who is profoundly deaf will be making the 150 mile long journey in a bid to raise funds to save the much needed local club.
Leeds Deaf Football Club has a long history dating back to pre-1871, producing a number of top deaf footballers for the national Deaf Football team. Recent cost pressures meant it was disbanded 4 years ago, it has affected many deaf people who were directly or indirectly part of the club.
Leeds Deaf Football Club needs funds to set up and maintain the football club. It is estimated £7,500 is needed to run the club for this season and the future for 24+ profoundly deaf footballers. He has set his target of £400 to ensure the team enable to travel to away matches within UK. If the target of £400 achieved then the remaining half will go to Canal & River Trust.
